Notes

The Nikulin lattice \(N = \langle N_1, \ldots, N_8, \hat N \rangle\) with \(\hat N = \tfrac{1}{2}(N_1 + \cdots + N_8)\), \(N_i^2 = -2\) and \(N_i \cdot N_j = 0\) for \(i \neq j\) (van Geemen and Sarti, Section 1.5). The classes \(N_i\) are the exceptional curves of the resolution of the quotient of a K3 surface by a Nikulin (symplectic) involution, and \(N\) is negative definite of rank 8 with discriminant group \((\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z})^6\).

This record is \(N(-1)\), so that its form is positive definite. The basis is \(N_1, \ldots, N_7, \hat N\).
