A toy contour is a closed Jordan curve \(\gamma\) in \(\CC\), together with its interior and exterior: the bounded and the unbounded connected components of \(\CC\setminus\gamma\).
By the Jordan curve theorem, \(\CC\setminus\gamma\) has exactly two connected components, one bounded and one unbounded, and \(\gamma\) is their common boundary.
